Music Commentary--Creative Writing--Cultural Hilarity

"What if there are no cries of anguish to be heard? Who is prepared to take arms against a sea of amusements? To whom do we complain, and when, and in what tone of voice, when serious discourse dissolves into giggles?"--Neil Postman

Palo Duro

This eternal chasm between ephemeral desire and fettered need

in which weary wanderers cleave desperately to well-trodden trails

in which blue shadows eclipse relentless rays of longing

in which fallow lovers lie on the craggy rocks of innocence

in which anonymous streams of repentance flow from end to end

in which newlyweds scout out cliff-dwellings of annihilated artists

in which the violent erosion of time surrenders to sublime beauty
